Bathroom Renovations in Lakeshore & Belle River
Lakeshore is one of the fastest-growing places in the region, with more than 1,000 new homes built between 2016 and 2021. That means two very different kinds of bathroom jobs: updating original bathrooms in established Belle River neighbourhoods, and finishing or upgrading bathrooms in newer subdivisions. Postma does both, with our own licensed plumbers handling every drain and supply line.

Basement Bathrooms and Flood Protection
Lakeshore is flat and drains toward Lake St. Clair, and the area has seen serious flooding, including the August 2017 storm and record lake levels in 2019. If you’re adding a bathroom to a basement, protecting it matters as much as the finishes. We look at:
- A backwater valve on the main sewer line
- Your sump pump and whether an overflow or upgrade is needed
- Where the new drains tie in and whether they need a pump
- Water-resistant materials for walls and floors
The Municipality of Lakeshore has offered subsidies for backwater valves and sump pump overflows installed by a licensed plumber. Check with the municipality for current details. We can do the work and give you the paperwork you need.

Lakeshore Bathroom Renovation FAQs
Do you work in Belle River and the rest of Lakeshore?
Yes. We cover Belle River, Emeryville, Stoney Point, Comber and the rest of the municipality.
My basement already has a bathroom rough-in. Can you finish it?
Yes. We check the rough-in first to make sure it was installed correctly, then install the fixtures and complete the room.
Should I add a backwater valve when I finish my basement bathroom?
In most Lakeshore homes we recommend it. It’s a small cost compared with cleaning up after a sewer backup.
Do you offer financing?
Yes. See our financing options.
